Overview
Parcel Africa is our innovative solution designed to tackle the fragmented and inefficient last-mile logistics landscape in Africa. By digitally connecting small businesses with a vast network of local delivery companies, Parcel Africa makes commerce logistics seamless, accessible, and affordable.

Problem Statement
Traditional delivery for commerce in Africa is broken. Key issues include:
➊ Fragmented Networks: Many local delivery companies—often operating without any online presence—make it challenging for businesses to reliably access and manage their services.
➋ Inefficient Processes: Manual systems (pen & paper, phone calls, WhatsApp messages) lead to slow, unpredictable delivery operations.
➌ Limited Market Access: Small logistics providers struggle to reach a broader clientele, while merchants face high costs and unreliable service options.
➍ Lack of Transparency: Merchants have little visibility into the delivery process, resulting in poor customer satisfaction and operational inefficiencies.

Our Approach
Parcel Africa was conceived to address these challenges through a comprehensive digital platform that unifies the logistics ecosystem. Our process involved:
❋ Unified Digital Network: Parcel Africa brings small logistics companies online, providing them with the tools to manage orders, track deliveries, and optimize routes—all in one centralized platform.
❋ Seamless Integration for Merchants: Through our merchant app and social media bots, SMEs can access a reliable network for shipping their products, eliminating the need for cumbersome directories and multiple contact points.
❋ Flexible Business Models: We’re experimenting with PAYU/subscription models where logistics companies pay a commission or subscription fee, and merchants enjoy a cost-effective, predictable service model.
❋ Scalable Expansion: Designed as a hub-and-spoke network, our solution is easily expandable from cities like Kano to Lagos and beyond, enhancing cross-regional commerce logistics.

Research
✦ User Research & Market Analysis: We engaged with over 6,000 social and e-commerce SMEs and examined local delivery companies—up to 500 in Nigeria alone—to understand their pain points.
✦ Pilot Testing in Kano: Our initial experiments in Kano demonstrated tangible improvements, with 20 active merchants processing 32 orders per week alongside 5 logistics partners.

Development
✦ Agile Development & Iteration: Collaborated closely with engineering teams using agile methodologies, balancing feature prioritization and rapid iteration based on continuous feedback.
✦ Delivery & Handoff: Streamlined the transition from design to development with robust handoff processes, ensuring consistency across platforms and maintaining alignment between design and product objectives.
